I have 3 children ages 12,10 and 6 and I still lotion them up daily to stop dry skin.

I am curious but do you still apply lotion/suntan lotion on your children, if you have stopped, what age did you stop at?

I will probably keep applying suntan lotion on all my children until they are at least 14, then I will probably stop applying moisturizing lotion for dry skin when they are about 13 years of age.

No age about it , only when they become responsible enough to do it themselves.

I can't remember my mother EVER applying lotion to me when I was a youngster. In fact, anything past the age of five would probably seem pretty weird to me.
Are you maybe a little over protective of your children? No offense intended, but my mother never pampered me to that extent and I turned out fine (At least, I think I did =\).
At least you're an attentive mother who obviously loves her children very much.

This is a great question!

My mom always applied suntan lotion on me and my brother and sister until we were old enough to do it properly ourselves.

As far as moisturizer, she started when we were newborns with Johnson's after our baths and did it until, again, we were old enough to apply it properly ourselves.

The whole thing here is that when your kids need help, there is no magic age to stop helping them. You sound like an awesome mom, just like mine. :)

Don't ever stop putting lotion on them but at least let them do it themselves. I stopped applying it for them at age 6.

Will you still be brushing their teeth and wiping their butts for them too?

Seriously once they are enter school they are usually fully capable of "lotioning" up themselves (safe for kids with no hands or kids with developmental delays etc). I can't image any teenager letting their mother lotioning them up lol
