I think a lot of it has to do with the media. The media is a catastrophe machine these days and there are a lot more media channels available now as compared to 50 years ago. I think that if you deal with the present the future takes care of itself. We get terrified of action because there are all kind of people saying "if you do this, this will happen, so don't do it!". But it is action that shapes the future, especially one's own personal future.
I think another point is that we've realized that we all live on a rather fragile planet and there are a lot of us here. If we do not change the way we live then the future is indeed pretty bleak. An economic system where productivity is just measured in how many widgets or services we create is not helping the problem.
A perceived or real lack of leadership amonst world leaders also seems to be part of the problem.

Why shouldn't v be concerned about our future as it's very important. Ours is an age of science. Everything in this world is developed. So its necessary

I am more concerned because of the illegal immigration invasion
Mexicans are taking over California and we have a growing problem with corruption.

Because that is where we are all bound for. We can't wallow in the past, we can't stagnate in the present. We always think of tomorrow, what to do then, and so many other plans and things to do.
