My cat got scared and scratched me up. I've got some nasty scratches on my left arm, throat, left breast, and on my back.

Will I be ok? My dad said he's going to tie the cat up outside with a chain.

You'll be fine. Be very kind with the poor cat - make her feel that she's still loved and cared for.

You'll be more than fineas long as the cat is innoculated against rabies! Cat scratches are rarely fatal!

If you experience itching, use some Benedyl cream for it. Just wash the area and watch for infection like you would any other wound.

I've had cats since I was 12 and believe me,, I've had some narley scratches while just playing with the babies. I've lived to be 41 and I'm sure I'll live even longer.

Kittens scratch the most and I get scratched all the time at rescue shelters playing with the lettle babies while they're waiting for homes.

Tell your dad I'll tie him up on a chain, then report him to the humane society!

The cat was scared,, they do what they feel they have to do to live. Thats just a small danger of cat ownership.

A friend of mine got scratched by his cat, and later got very ill, ended up in the hospital to have his appendix removed. After cutting him open, they noticed that his appendix was healthy. To the embarrassment of his doctor, it was later determined that my friend had something commonly referred to as "Cat Scratch Fever."

I'm not suggesting you see a doctor right away, but it might not be a bad idea. If you prefer to wait, and I probably would, but you later start feeling ill, explain to your doctor that you've been scratched by a cat, and that he should consider "Cat Scratch Fever" as a possible reason for your not feeling well.

Either way, I wouldn't punish the cat with chains or whatever. Just put him up for adoption to a loving family. If you like having a cat, get another one that's more compatible. This one is not right for you, and trying to figure out why can be expensive. Better to give him a chance to find happiness elsewhere, and for you to try again with a new kitty.

Have your scratches examined by a physician and treated accordingly. You may need to take some antibiotics in case the wounds get infected. Is the cat vaccinated against Rabies? If your answer is no, bring it to your vet for observation. Cats like to lick their paws all the time so if they have Rabies, the virus can easily be passed to a person via a scratch or bite. Better have your wounds checked early and the cat observed.

What kind of cat could do that??
Wash them off with lukewarm water and soap and then put on clean clothing. You can put on hydrogen peroxide on the scratches. This will kill the germs. It feels cold.

Your story is a little screwy.... kind of hard to believe this is the whole truth. And what kind of man would chain up a CAT? And outside? That's just very strange. If your cat is such a problem give it away.

Just clean up the scratches, You should be okay. If they are red or swollen several days after the initial scratching incident go to the doctor. Tell your dad to let the cat go its just being a cat.

You need to go to the emergency room or see your doctor right away!
These bites can lead to a variety of infections in humans, including cat-scratch disease. Also known as "Cat Scratch Fever"

Cat-scratch disease is an infection caused by bacteria carried in cats’ saliva and on their paws or fur. It does not cause sickness in cats, but the bacteria can be passed from a cat to a human through a bite or scratch, or if a person pets a cat and doesn’t wash his or her hands afterward
Although cats are found in nearly a third of U.S. households, cat bites are far less common than dog bites. According to one study, cats inflict perhaps 400,000 harmful bites in the United States each year. The tissue damage caused by cat bites is usually limited, but they carry a high risk of infection
The mouths of cats and dogs contain many of the same microorganisms. Cat scratches and bites are also capable of transmitting the Bartonella henselae bacterium, which can lead to cat-scratch disease, an unpleasant but usually not life-threatening illness.

You should wash all your cuts with peroxide or rubbing alcohol to try and reduce your risk of becoming infected with cat scratch fever, which is caused by getting scratched by a cat with feces under its claws. It causes the nearest lymph node to become inflamed and very painful. After 2 weeks if you notice any swelling in one of your lymph nodes you should go to the doctor and have them checked out. Sometimes surgery is necessary. I developed cat scratch fever after about 3 weeks of being scratched by a cat, it was the lymph node at my inner thigh and it was very painful to walk. Luckily it did not require surgery but I still have a scar even after 15 years. Just wash them very good and hopefully you will not have any problems.

Are you bleeding a lot? If it's really bad, go to the doctor. If it's bleeding, but only a little bit, you'll be fine.

And tying up the cat outside isn't going to help anything. It's a cat, they do that sometimes, no matter how nice they are, especially if it was scared.

the cat is going to hate you even more. Just wash the areas very well with a strong soap, and put on antibiotic cream and a bandaid if necessary. You will heal. the cat won't though if yourfather does tie it outside.
