Nope, they're rodents. Wild animals.

ok,....yes they are. u can trust me, since i already had 5 hamsters.
on the very beginning they will be shocked of their new environment (your home) and WILL try to bite you if you put your hand in their cage to get them.
And yes, once you have the hamster savely on your hand, they loooooooooooveeeeeeee being stroked.
Hamsters are just like dogs - after you know them a while, they love every piece of attention they deserve.
Hamsters are smart too! Once I had a dog and a hamster at the same time, and I was totally conveinced that my hamster was smarter than my dog :-)
IF ur going to buy a small pet never buy a guinea pig.
Guinea pigs are not the smartest animals on the world, and they pee everywhere....you can t teach them not to.
Guinea pigs also make a lot of noise - it ll get on ur nerves.
My personal reccomandation is a hamster.
:-)

Not really. But I think they might kind of like just getting out of their cage to be petted. Years ago when I was a kid, my brother's hamsters like snuggling into my long hair. It's good to pay some attention to a hamster but they don't need it like a dog does.

It depends on each individual hamster. I had one a few years ago and she was very nice. I could hold her and pet her (for a few minutes at a time) She always came up to my hand when I opened her cage. I think she had a personality.
Then she had babies and I kept one of them. This hamster turned out to be evil. I should have known from it's red eyes! Everytime I tried to hold it, the thing tried to bite me. I could hardly clean it's cage without it trying to run away or attack me. He would get really protective over his cage and didn't like me coming near it.

I'm into mice. Yes they have personality traits. Mine are tame and I pet them like a cat or dog. I give them baths and let them go swimming in my kitchen sink. At night I turn them loose and let them run around in my apartment. I love my mice and my mice love me. It's a very special relationship and I enjoy coming home to them.

Hamster makes great pets. If you have experience. I had mine for 4 years now. Make sure you know how to handle it first. They tend to bite at first, but they are friendly.

Hamsters are mindless hoarders that are extremely territorial rodents. Although they seem to be the rodent of choice with people because they look so friendly, they're really not very friendly at all. They bite and they can't be trained to do much of anything.
Plus, hamsters are notorious escape artists, and once they get out, you have to be able to find them. They DO NOT respond to any commands or prompts. When you do find them after an escape, odds are you'll get bitten trying to recover the little guy!
If you want an excellent pet from the rodent family, opt for rats. They're cleaner, friendlier, and you can actually train your rats to come to you on command.
Over the years I've had many rats that I've been able to train to come back after letting them out of their cage to roam around for execise. Hamsters you CANNOT let them loose for a second because they won't come back at all!

No, they tend to bite.
Better choice is cavy (guinea pig) because they are more social, make interesting noises and pretty tidy.
