North by Northwest (Hitchcocks best film wacth the crop duster plane follow cary grant!)
West Side Story (the visual aspects and use of colour)
On The Waterfront (Marlon Brandos first great film, visually stunning for the time)
The Pawnbroker (Intersting vision by Sidney Lumet)
I can recommend more, but these films are well directed but five more i can recommend are the following
ET (I am not keen on Speilburg but check the views from ET and children (very clever), plus the visaul impact of ET flying)
The English Patient (modern classic)
2001 Space Odyessy (kubrick genius, very cold and spacious)
Wizard of OZ (classic film and great visually from 1939)
Ben Hur (classic film, very much a template for gladiator)
