No - you need to see a doctor
Not all pink eye is just infection (conjunctivitis) - there are some other things that it might be that could be serious.
It's not LIKELY to be one of the following, but you won't know unless you go check. See the links below for:
Angle closure glaucoma
Herpetic corneal ulcer

No...pink-eye, also known as conjuctivitis...it can be either bacterial or viral. It is very very contagious. If it is viral, there is no medication required, but bacterial conjunctivitis needs antibiotic ointment or drops. You MUST go to a doctor to find out what kind you have. It is possible that antibiotics will be prescribed regardless. (viral should clear in 3-5 days on its own)
Other things to do while infected:
Wash your hands thoroughly and often,
Change your pillow-cases, sheets and blankets nightly
Hot and/or cold compresses (whichever feels best)
Avoid work/school until infection is under control (see link below)
Good luck, it is terribly uncomfortable, I know.

try hot compresses..........
do not itch the eye , keep your hands clean when contacting the infected area .
i advise seeing a physician asap , it can spread to the other eye easily .
