Yes they did have sex but weren't so open about it. A lot of young women got pregnant but most of them got married, unlike today's women. And living together before marriage was just scandalous. I would say fewer women in the 50s had sex before marriage compared to the women now.

the fault is NOT AT ALL yours talking to him would only be worthwhile IF he might understand what he did was wrong; this is not likely and you cannot exxpect an apology. But some people feel better for confronting their abusers even if the abuser doesn't say sorry, just to get the anger and pain out of your system you should NOT contact him alone, especially not in a way where he could contact YOU afterwards. Yahoo has disposable email addresses, did you know? you could email him from one of those, and throw the address away if any of his replies sound nasty, so he can't keep bugging you. You could get a sensible reliable mature friend to help with what to say, and to be with you when you read the answers (if any) CANCEL all the above, I just saw the bit about what he's doing now go with the REPORT HIM advice and if you can be identified in what he's saying get yourself onto a different website where you don;t have a profile; do not lower yourself to his level by starting an on-line slagging match

This isn't an inapproriate question. This is downright reverent compared to some I've seen on this site. Yes, teen agers occasionally did have sex before they were married but it was much less common than now. If they "got caught" i.e. the girl became pregnant , they would have hurry-up wedding or she would go to live with an "aunt" in another state. The baby would be brought up by other family members or relinquished for adoption. There were maternity homes or "homes for unwed mothers" where a girl could go and stay until her baby was born and dealt with. Abortions were rare, illegal and dangerous. Kids were just as horney then but a lot more scared.

If you look around and see how prevelant prostitution and pornography is now, it's startling. Yet, in this day and age, nudity and free sex is still quite taboo.
I was born in '57. I was the sixth of my mothers children. My mother had her first child at 13. It was an age where many many woman married much earlier (in their young teens) usually because they were pregnant. Sex was even more taboo then, no sex ed, no porn, but having less sexual outlets, such as porn, there were probably more people looking for satisfaction because there wasn't much stimulation for masturbation. I would think that hormones then were like hormones now, a thing of nature. So yes, there was a lot of sex then but it was talked about a lot less. And it often ended in marriage.

I think there were more double standards going on then. Two types of girls, good ones and bad ones. It seems like it was all on the girl, not too many consequences for the guy unless they got "caught" with a baby. On the surface, people acted as if sex didn't exist, but I think people thought about it just as much as they do today.

Yes, I happen to know this question. My Mom was a teen-ager in the 50's and so was my friend's Mom.

I found out in my 40's that my Mom had pre-marital sex with a guy she thought she'd probably marry. (Actually she married him the second time around)

Then I find out she got married because she got pregnant with my father!! (not me, my sis)

I also know that my friend's mother also was preg when she got married.

They certainly weren't like the free expression 60's... but they did it very selectively, maybe with 1 or 2.

OF course we had sex, just a lot less of it....Girls usually waited until they fell heavy in love, usually between 16-19 before sex started. "Nice Girls did not do that." By and large, there were two types of girls...the bad/wild ones and the good ones....we had sex with the bad/wild ones, we dated and went with the good girls. Too bad girls don't wise up today and go back to that philosophy...in those days, the guys chased the girls...today, the girls chase the guys with bad results...from what I see.
