The best answer to the question " Why do you want to work for us?" requires you to do some research on the company you are interviewing and to come up with a personal reason why you want to work there.

Listed below are some ideas to start from:
2. I enjoy the product xyz you manufacture and I'd like to be part of the team/company that is responsible for making it.
2. I want to work for your company because it has an honorable reputation for treating its clients and employees well.
3. I like the company philosophy of "............" as it much my own quite well and want to work for you.

As for the will you leave us if you find a better opportunity the best is "No I am looking for a company where I can grow and build a career" or something to that sentiment.

Hopefully, you checked out the company to which you're applying. If you think that you would be a good match with the company, just say what you think you could do for the company and that you appreciate what this particular company can do for you.

If you haven't been 'job hopping' and have kept past jobs a respectable time, the fact that you think you think you'll be happy working there should tell them that you intend to stay. A happy worker doesn't go seeking greener pastures.

The most important thing to point out in a job interview is what you can do for the company, and why you're the best person for the job.

Interviews and hiring decisions are always a two-way street. It's about you and about them. So before constructing your answer, think about, first, what the employer is looking for. There are generally five categories that they want to be sure you'll match. Competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities), Attitude and Motivation, Agility and Learning capabilities in their organization, Corporate Culture Fit, and Character and Ethics. Second, what do you want out of work. The areas to consider are your own interests and strenghts, what type of environment you're looking for, your preferred workstyle, what kind of people you enjoy working with, your long term career goals, and what kind of 'values' you'd like the organization to have. If you're clear on all of that, then the answers to the questions needs to be around what a great match exits between what they need and you have to offer, as well as what you need and they have to offer you. The reason they ask this question is to ensure you're going into their organization with your eyes wide open, and that you've done the research necessary to know that this is a great match. If you've done that you'll be able to clearly tell them why there is a great match. And they know there are no guarantees that you won't leave for another offer. They just want to know that you've done your homework and this opportunity is one you'll thrive in.

I believe a few people above gave you some good pointers. I'd like to bring two of those theories closer together though - the one that suggested possible answers and the other that said to do some research on the company you wish to join.

I think it wise to use the internet or some other resource to find out at least 'something' about your target company so you can answer some of those questions. But if you prepare yourself to answer a question like "I've heard good things about this company" or that you know that they make a good product, etc, be prepared to answer "where did you hear about us" or "what do you know about our product?" In other words, really do some research before the interview. Count on a follow up question about any of these pre-programmed answers.

Normally for specialised or executive jobs, the question of why you would like to join them crops up.

It is therefore good to know more about the company that you are applying for the job.

As to your second question, it is always good to tell a little wise lie. For certain, if you have a better offer elsewhere later, you will leave them. So it may be good to tell them that with your experiences ...............you wish to contribute to the company's success etc.......... and you wish to make this new job your career.
