For the first days of school, there were only a few people at my lunch table. In the past week, two girls have joined who I honestly, thoroughly dislike. I won't say anything to them to let them know how unwelcome they really are, but I wish they hadn't decided my table would be their usual table.
The first girl has no social skills and her prefered topic of conversation is her OCD. Last school year, I made it very clear to her after spending many hours with her that I thought she was a weird little person and wanted no sort of associaiton with her. And yet, she was the first of the two to sit down at my table without so much as asking or explaining why she had chosen to sit with me of all people.
The second is just an all around weirdo who can barely hold a conversation and never makes eye contact with anyone.
But I would like to know WHY I am attracting the people no one else wants to talk to or sit with. Why do they feel comfortable around me, even when I'm as mean as I know how?

And I am not the only person at my table who doesn't like them. I just happen to be the only one turning to Yahoo for help.
And you're quite welcome to tell me what a horrible person I am- I know.

It's not consuming my life. It's just curiosity. The story is meant just to demonstrate the kind of people I'm speaking about. I meant, why do I attract social rejects in general? I suppose you could have done without the specifics.

sometimes we see things one sided, and not from the others point of view. maybe you are the only one they feel comfortable with, or others can be being mean to them , and your just not quite as mean. you don't have to like everyone, but be polite, ladies are polite, is only 30min, or whatever, and if it bothers you that much, pick up your tray and leave. but before you do that, put yourself in there shoes, how would you feel if you were being treated that way? you never know who you might need in your future, and wouldn't it suck if you wanted this job really bad and realize she was the one that did the hiring? don't burn bridges dear

I don't think you're a horrible person, Just young.
Perhaps these girls are looking for acceptance. Sitting at your table, however uncomfortable it is for you and them, is still a better option than sitting at another table with strangers who will outright taunt them.
Realize that after a certain age, popularity and reputation don't count for much. Try being civil with them, and allow them to sit with you, that doesn't mean you're best friends. You might learn a lot from them about people and human nature, but perhaps you're not ready painful wisdom.

Well first of all these people are probley just looking for friends that what happen to me in High School and to tell you the truth these people became my closes friends. And let me tell you if you saw them you probley wouldn't want to be around them but remember all these kids that are just looking for a friend and are tried of being alone. I know school to some people is just to go to get the parents off you but some kids think its time to talk to some about what there going thought and it helps.

Why not just tolerate them throughout the lunch period and then go on about your day? No need to be mean, and you don't have to be overly-friendly, either. Just eat your lunch and then go on. Doesn't sound like much of a problem to me.
But as to why you're "attracting" them... maybe there's nowhere else to sit. Maybe they think it's their table and wonder why *you're* sitting there. Maybe you need to learn a lesson about being tolerant, sympathetic, or empathetic. Who knows?

it's either they think you're like them.. so they think they can be comfortable with you.. or worst.. they think you're worse than them!
except if you're a shrink, if u keep getting people like this.. it just shows that you need to change yourself too..
and you have a choice.. when they come you can just stand up and leave..
