I have heard this was to hold scent, in the early days of man this is how they found his woman. So now that we have cell phones and addresses why are their still so many stinky hairy woman out there?

Well there are a few thoughts about this that I listed below but here is the real reason first: :o)
It is believed that the functions of p*bic hair include the dissemination of pheromones and protection from the friction of sexual intercourse. Natural selection may also have sustained it because it can show a potential sexual partner that the other person is sexually mature and can reproduce. P*bic hair and the growth between the tops of the legs and the buttocks, like under arm hair, helps to lubricate the areas, making movement smoother and more comfortable.
There is no definitive theory on the reason for the existence of pubic hair. The prevailing theory relates to pheromones — scents that the body produces that can be sexually stimulating to others. In this theory, the tufts of hair that grow around the genitals, as well as under the arms, capture these erotic scents. Pheromones get trapped in the p*bic hair when apocrine glands release an odorless secretion on the surface of the skin that combines with bacteria decomposed by the secretions of the sebaceous glands. Humans have the same number of hair follicles as gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans, but body hair is generally very fine or barely visible in comparison. So, while p*bic hair and underarm hair might be considered the primary scent traps, they are not the only ones. For some people, scents from these areas are noticeable and consciously increase sexual arousal. Pheromones might not be obvious but may be detected subconsciously.
Another theory is that the pubic hair keeps the genitals warm. The purpose of women's pubic hair could be similar to that of the cilia in the nose, in that it prevents small foreign particles from entering the v*gina. However, this doesn't explain male p*bic hair.
- In a Smithsonian monograph it say pubic and axillary (armpit) hair gives babies something to grab onto. ( weird)
- it is more for holding any bacteria or foreign substances to reduce any infection
-More plausibly it has been suggested that pubic hair helps to retain certain glandular secretions that are supposed to be a powerful aphrodisiac.
I don't know why some women choose not to take some extra care there. Hair does hold in odor so I choose to either have none or just a strip plus I think that looks sexier - Brazilain or bare. Women who keep it au natural -I don't get it either. It would be nice if you could ask them on your first date about this so you don't have to waste the time just to get there and be like - oh no.

Why do men have pubes? They never did have to keep the scent like that. I think it's just because that's the way we're made. Not for any special biological need, although it may have kept the women from freezing shut during the Ice Ages. LOL

I don't know who you have been in relationship with. Lots of Women who choose not to shave their vaginal area dont stink. That is strickly from not having good personal hygeine not from having hair.
Men have hair too ya know. For women as well as men shaving their private areas is a personal preference some like it trimed, others shaved, others like it hairy/natural.
Sounds like you tend to get into relationships with women who dont know the concept of a shower daily.

Wow imagine being sniffed...Lol.
Some people believe there should be a smell and the intensity depends on the individual. They believe one should not wash but douche when needed. The Hairy part is individual preference as well.

I have heard it is to block bacteria. I think this is true because on the rare occasion I've shaved that area I've gotten infections and been itchy!

This was to find women? Did men just go up to women and sniff their pubic hair to see if they were the right one for them?
