I just moved to cali from missouri and my girl has lived here all her life, she is telling me anything not stock, blue headlights and underbody lights, any kind of light that isnt stock is illegal, i am disagreeing with her saying that as long as it is dot approved that its legal, someone help me, am i wrong?? any website with laws on this subject would help alot, thank you

She's largely wrong. Headlights that are DOT approved are legal. Bulbs may be any color as long as they emit white or amber light when turned on. "Blue" headlight bulbs emit white light, not blue, so they're perfectly legal.

Under-body lights are OK as long as they are not red and as long as the tubes are not visible.

The only restricted color on the front of a car is red. Most other colors are OK on the sides and rear.

Now, engine and body mods are a different story entirely. Any engine mods must be approved by the California Air Resources Board, aka the CARB. Look for CARB approval on any after-market engine components.

Another area where you will get into trouble is tires protruding beyond the body of the vehicle. Those Desert Dogs hanging 5 inches beyond the side of your 4-wheel drive pickup in MO will get you pulled out of service in CA. Ditto for wheels with a non-stock offset even though they don't protrude.

i think so too... but as i have never been to canada myself i am not so sure........
