I think Top Gun was best, followed by Predator and then Aliens (the first sequel). I'm a guy and that's what I like. Of course, the two sequels to Star Wars are good too (SW was in '77) and the Indiana Jones movies were good too.
but I'm mainly judging on rememberability, the ability to quote lines from the movie, not the technical or artistic merit.

That's an impractical question. You have to specify the genre (drama, etc.) But since you vehemently refuse to specify, I think it's safe to say that Raging Bull is the best 80's movie.
