Mechantronics is the marriage of mechanical engineering with electrical engineering and usually focusses on robotics.
This field is increasingly in demand, as most assembly processes require robots. Also there is now a lot of overlap between disciplines required to complete an engineering project.
Mechatronics seems to meet the demands of manufacturing most exactly. With the rise of China as a manufacturing base, it is debatable whether getting into manufacturing is a good idea.
