Ohh, I forgot to tell you, It's not me that got in trouble for something done outside of school but I saw someone else once get punished. Is there any legal action you can take if you do get punished for something outside of school that wasent against the law?

I am mostly talking about non illegal things done outside of school, I understand why you would get in trouble for something illegal. O.K., how about a situation like its after school and you across the street at the library, and you are swearing and hanging out.

Depends. If you did something illegal, the police should be looking for your prosecution. Certainly your parents should look to punish you. But if you are lets say, the president of the honors society and you get caught selling heroine, sorry buddy, but you **s need to be kicked out of the club. Just as if you are a capitain of the basketball team, you should be suspended from the team until you complete your punishment and rehabilitate. We all have responsibilities to society when we take positions as "role models". Other children will be looking up to you and they need to know its not ok to be a criminal and at the same time try to pass as someone honorable.

YES. What is done outside of the school is something to be punished by your parents or by the police depending on the alleged offense.

Yes ! School is part of the whole system of educating for life. You obviously realize that what ever it was you did was wrong, and therefore needs to be addressed, Why not by the school, many parents are either reluctant, afraid or just plain don't care. You will remember this for the rest of your life and may I hope look back in the future and say "thanks"

Yeas and no!

If you violated a policy, say getting drunk and they kicked you off the team for 2 weeks, tht would be acceptable!

You know the rules! Rules aren't always fair as you will find out, and as a kid you have no rights at all, except negative ones (A failure to provide you with food)!

Rules don't bother most people very much until they apply to them! Then they do!

What was the offense.... For instance, if you are drug dealer and you did it off of school grounds, you could still influence people on school grounds, and I would not want you around my children.

There are other situations that likewise would apply. We need more facts if you want an answer. So no, it is not wrong - if you consider "not permitting you on school grounds" to be punishment.

If the activity did not directly impact the school, then the school should have no authority to do anything about it.

By "directly impact" I mean deface of destroy school property, defame the school, act out while on a school-sponsored trip, or otherwise directly harm the school.

School officials have no right to punish you outside of school. They need to mind their own business and not worry about you off of school grounds.

Not a public school.

However if it is a private school that has a codes of conduct and/or ethics that they demand their students to abide by, then you have two choices; accept the consequences of violating their code or find another school.
