The way I think of jealousy is desiring something that does not belong to you. I think possessiveness or defensiveness might be mistaken for jealousy. A feeling of admiration or appreciation are also not the same as jealousy. To me it is a false emotion

Jealousy is being envious of someone or something. Jealous people aren't happy with who they have become & are jealous of those they wish they were more like. B/c they want to possess what someone else has, no matter what it may be, they would enjoy seeing that person go through bad times...Like some people enjoy other poeple's misery- that's when they are happy. The rest of the time they have to be unhappy & if you are happy for too long they will create trouble for you therefore temporarily feeling better than you. SO SAD!!!

Jealousy is a feeling. Not a pretense. Good jealousy is when a married man starts to look at other women or vice versa. Bad jealousy is when a person can't control their fears about their partners devotion to them. I watched an episode on Dr. Phil the other day where a man was terrorizing his fiance because he couldn't control his fear and wanted to know her whereabouts and her doings every minute of every day. She was flattered at first but this is a HUGE RED FLAG. In the end he was knocking down her door and ramming her car to try to control her.

Jealousy has nothing to do with insecurity. It comes from selfishness and the pursuit of happiness: the person is selfish because he wants the other person/thing to be his and his only (or hers), and pursuit of happiness because he thinks this person/thing is a source of happiness of some sort. Even some animals are jealous, and many pet owners have amusing stories about this. It's a normal feeling for human beings. We're basically advanced animals, so it's natural we feel jealous.

Jealousy is the fear of being replaced by someone else. Its the reason God can be jealous, we as humans cannot. God fears us replacing him with something else which is our free choice given to us.
Envious is wanting something someone else has. Don't confuse the two.

It's basic animal instinct. If you have a cat or dog, watch it get jealous from time to time.

It is normal to get jealous when someone is making a play for your spouse.

People are insucure and they are selfish.

Jealousy is a terrible thing. If I have a friend that is female my wife is ok with that. As it should be, and I am ok with her having male friends. Just because we are married does not mean that we can no longer choose who our friends will be.
