If a person makes you feel unhappy about yourself and life but you can't imagine living without them, what do you call this? Can you love someone and not actually like them, after living together several years?

No, that's not true love. It sounds like dependency. Life is too short to be with people who make you feel bad about yourself.

I exactly understand your situation... I have been through it... I would want this person to be around me... but the skepticism of not being loved or the so called possesiveness paved way to an unhealthy relation... may be you should consider to live with it or quit... I opted to quit... it was hard... but time alliviated the pain... I was so sure that I reached the limits of tolorence... Afterall life is too short to be worrying all the time....I don't know if you are a scorpion... decisions are hard to make... choose yours prudently... All the Best :-)

Liking someone, loving someone, and being in love are all different things. And those things can change with time. If they make you feel unhappy about yourself and life, what is there to love?

Been there done that!!! Unfortunalty you don't get to pick to who you fall in love with. I had to let down my pride and admit to the whole world I was in love with someone before I could ever get over what I did'nt want to be in.

yup, its a kind of conditioning to being treated badly. That's why women don't leave abusive husbands. They've been conditioned to think they deserve the beatings and bad treatment

i don't think the answer to such situation is LEAVE.Why leave so sudden ?? .I have been to such situation where my wife would hate me at times..I guess i reached to her nerve at those instances unknowingly..but mercy me..i didn't mean it..she was rough with me at times.Hey ,during her period ,,she can become nasty and unbearable..I swallow all that with all my bride ..Alternatively ,u should stay with him and work things out i,especially if there are kids at stake .

I call this lust. You don't love someone and hate them at the same time. That ain't love. I think you have love and lust confused.
