Do I have to attach a different drive ( like DVD-drive ) to make it work? What is its standard capacity? How much does a good pen-drive cost(in India) ? Does it have any advantage ? Are they writable?Please answer . I know nothing about pen-drives.

Pen drives are just a USB hard drive that is very portable. You can get them in all different sizes and prices. Prices differ between stores, manufacturers and sizes. They are very handy but if you are moving large amounts of data a cd or dvd is much cheaper up front if you already have a burner. But a pen drive can be used over and over. For the simple thought it is a small hard drive that you put in the USB port. If you have heard of a flash drive they are the same thing

a pen drive is a flash drive that is also a pen.
a flash drive is a small thing that plugs right into a USB port and can save data. anywhere from maybe 256 MB to over 2 Gigabytes. i have no idea what it would cost in india. yes they are re-writable. thats the point. the advantage is that it can fit right in your pocket and you can take it with you everywhere you go.

A small memory stick that usually fits in the USB port. USB Flash Drive. Pen drive is a slang. Thunb drive is another slang.
Usually 256mb, 512 or 1GB
It is a flash memory chip, so it has no moving parts and it retains the memory without an electric change, like RAM memory requires.

no we need to have usb port to insert pen drive no other installing
cds required.according to capacity the cost may vary suppose
256mb -800/-
1gb -2000/-
dell,sony companies pen drives are avilable
it has advantage of portability and rewritable.it is reliable and less cost

i believe a pen drive is just a usb flash drive. there are several capacities available, and you can no doubt find one to suit your immediate and future needs. i have no idea about purchasing one in india however. if you just wanted to do some research, try

looks like a small pen. comes with a usb connector. for win xp and higher u dont need to install its driver. otherwise install the driver and your os would detect it. rewritable. erasable. advantage..well its very handy in teh first place, portable. and a very good capacity. minimum size is 64mb. i ve seen up to 5gb. recently one company (buslink?) has relesed a 64 gb flash drive

Pen drive is the USB mass storage device, like thumb drive etc. you need USB ports to connect these devices. it supports any capacity.
do you know we can also connect harddisk to the usb ports.
