For some people of the older generation, this could be a leftover from the Cold War.
However, most people of other countries, let's say, dislike the Americans. "Hate" is a bit too strong of a word for me. And Americans give plenty of reasons to other countries to do so. I can go on and on about all those times I was embarassed observing how some Americans behave while travelling abroad.
On the flip side, many Americans dislike many people from other countries.
In general, unfortunately, most people will dislike other people who don't look, speak, think or smell like them.

Hate is such a strong word, I do not believe the majority of Russians hate Americans, there is so much propaganda from both sides. I hope one day I can visit not only Russia, but many places over seas.

Because the Americans hated Russians for many years due to the Russians being communist and the US being capitalist. There was the cold war....
