Patience, trust, and most importantly communication. My g/f and I live 900 miles apart and I have only seen her once in about 6 months. Due to the nature of our jobs, we can't see each other as often as we would like. We keep in touch via phone, e-mail, and Messenger. It's hard not to be able to spend physical time with each other, but when we do, it's amazing (even in the bedroom!!!!)

Don't give up. Learn how to communicate and keep a determination to make it work and the rewards will be great. It also takes a tremendous amount of trust as well. Love will always find a way if you let it.

They can work. Ours worked from Texas to Italy for two years but talking everyday on the phone and having a couple trips to visit eachother. And you both need to stay busy and don't sit around wondering what the other person is doing, because it makes the time fly and you don't have time to start wondering about cheating, etc...

You don't and can't. Besides them not being worth it. For the simple reason not being able to see what each other is doing and getting up to. Who knows, the dude may even be married.

Internet chatting, e-mails, phone calls and a lot of trust. throw in a couple of visits a year and if your real ship can survive that then you can survive anything life throws at you.
