Not everyone thinks being gay is the worst thing in the world. You just hear alot of screaming from homophobes and some religious zealots when in fact there are many more straight people who don't have a big problem with gay people. They just don't say much about it.

It's all the "other" stuff related to the homsexual lifestyle, especially with regard to gay men.....extreme promiscuity, drug use, depravity, leading to AIDS, violence and a general disregard for all things normal and good in our culture. For lesbians, the problem is mostly a hatred of men, family and women who have children, particularly stay at home moms. These things turn most people against gays when they are exposed to them and is the reason why, despite decades working toward tolerance, so many people simply don't want gays hanging around. You're toxic. The solution, of course, is not to stop being gay, nor is it to try and convince others that they should accept this behavior from you (which is just obnoxious) but rather to remove the toxicity. To be blunt, if you want to be accepted than gays as normal, decent folk with good values, must be the rule, not the exception. You have a long way to go, unfortunately.

Peoples feeling about lesbians or gays has to do with prejudice, bigotry, intolerance, and a complete lack of knowledge. I am not gay and sexual orientation is of no interest to me when I meet people. I have found that the insights into life by lesbians and gays is fascinating and adds to my desire to understand and accept all people no matter what their sexual orientation. is.

People are afraid of things that are different and what they don't understand. I feel sorry for people like that. If you aren't hurting anyone and you are happy then that's all that matters. The world is full of small minded people.:(
My bf says that it's because they are insecure with their own sexuality.

insecurity, sheltered up-bringing, religious bias.

Ignore the doom-sayers- they'll end up drowning in their own bile.
