When you are confident, you are fairly certain you have usable answers. When you are pigheaded, you know you are the only one with the answers.

"pigheaded" means that what you think is right no matter what. You have a closed mind and wouldn't even consider the other person point of view. Confident means that you feel enough self-esteem to achieve your goals and argue your point without becoming mad.

If it's me, it's confident.

If it's anyone else, it's pigheaded.

But seriously, a person can be confident, or assertive, without being asinine about it. I think it's all in the attitude that goes with it. Respect of others' right to their opinion (even if it's wrong in your opinion) has a lot to do with it, I think.

About the labeling...you can't please everyone, but most people will see that you are a person who is willing to see all points of view, and who is respectful even if you disagree. Those who don't....you won't change them, and they probably are not worth worrying about, anyway.

A confident person is open to input from others. A pigheaded one is going to do what they want no matter what.

Confident people care about other people's opinions and feelings. They are willing to compromise, negotiate, give other people support and credit.

Pig-headed people care only about themselves and want to win at all costs. Their opinions are the only ones that matter. They are never at fault. Someone else is always to blame.

Don't worry too much about what other people think of you, because they won't necessarily be right. Be your own judge. If you are unsure, you can always ask the opinion of someone you trust and respect.

It's all about point of view.

If a guy is persistent in convincing you about something you don't like, he's pigheaded.

If a guy is persistent in convincing you about something you DO like, he's confident.

If you work with people who are constantly competing with one another, you can't change the label. If you can somehow convince them all that every point of view has value, then there's a chance.

Good luck!

If you are confident, you have the answers but are willing to listen to others and willing to change your mind.

If you are pig-headed, you have the answers and you are the only person who is right.

Someone told me once that "I am thrifty, you are miserly. I am indecisive, you are wish-washy. I am adamant, you are stubborn." So I guess you could add "I am self-assured, you are pig-headed". Maybe the terms vary according to your own perspective?

to me pig headed means stubborn...........the latter is being "PROACTIVE" ..........you're getting the job done by being assertive and not agressive........ a way to bring the best out of any situation...as you said...without worrying what people think of you.....so who cares how they view you...it's more important how you view yourself...so get out there and be proactive!!
