Mandalorian Armor.

Most fans of the movies do not accept the made up things in the books or roleplaying games. So to the vast majority, Boba Fett died in the Sarlacc Pit. If you didn't see it in a movie, its just a fairy tale made up by someone other than Lucas.

Wookiee Pelts.

I believe the braids are wookie pelts. That goes back to his origins back in 1978 for the Sar Wars X-mas Special. Yes... there really was one, and that is where Boba fett got his start.

He was there hunting Chewbacca, who was on his way home to celebrate "life day." (I think that is what the holiday was.)

He was then offered as a toy... you could send in cards from the back of action figures and get Boba Fett free.

He was so popular that Lucas had Fett written into "Empire Strikes Back."

the armor is mandalorian battle armor, and i just remember that after fett got out of the pit he was rescued by dengar, a fellow bounty hunter who was looking for jaba's body, or something like that. i think he later rebuit his ship the Slave1 as the Slave 2. i'm still not sure about the braids though.
