About a month ago...i won a betta fish at an amusment park. It looked healthy and all but then his fins were kinda like together and like strings. I got another betta in a bit and then i compared the two
the one that i won looked different..it has a faded redish, blueish and greenish color, it had kinda clumped up fins and they're like strings.

I changed the water fully about every 3 -4 days and for the first time added some treatment for his fins.
Its night time right now and the betta that i won is in his little bowl..on the bottom , not that active, and his fins aren't really moving. I have a plastic plant and some shells on the bottom he just lays in one spot and goes up for air or when i put some food in ...once in a while he swims around. The tank is small...not even a gallon..it has 2 flat sides .they are about the size of your palm but bigger. The fella has no tankmates.

I dont know what is goin on
Is there somehting wrong ?
Do i change the water to much ?
HELP PLEASE !!

I don't think there's anything wrong with your fish. Different kinds of betta fish have different types of fins. Yours probably has the shredded fins look. The tank is NOT too small. They can live in little cups, so yours is plenty big enough. I would suggest changing your water less often. But it depends also on how much you feed him. If you feed him too much, the water gets dirty faster. Here's a site that I refer to often when I first got my betta fish.

I answered this question but when I submitted it I was told you withdrew your question. So now you get the short answer. Yes he is probably sick or old. Amusement parks aren't good places to get fish. Do not keep him in a small bowl. It is hopeful that he is still eating. Changing the water once a week should be sufficient unless the bowl is small. If it has a plant above it and the roots hang down in it (very large vases available at Walmart), you can get away with changing the water when algae just starts to grow on the glass, about once a month. Feed him only 3 or 4 pellets every other day. Overfeeding can make a fish sick. Floating pellets (betta food or baby pellets- must be floating). Tank IS too small. Do you use a dechlorinator in the water? You do not need a heater as long as your house is a normal temperature. They do not need 78 degree water like tropical fish.

the fish has a disease and I hope you are putting the right medication for that type of disease, which if you are...great! You should only change his tank once a week and it would make hime much happier if he were in a bigger bowl. I know bettas are known not to need a lot of room to swim but they are MUCH happier if they have that space. And bettas CANNOT have any tank mates because they are eXtremely aggressive and territorial. Here is a good website: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/anabantids2/p/betta.htm

It would also be GREAT if you put a LIVE plat in his bowl...that helps them live a longer and healthier life.
Good luck!

for one thing you need a bigger tank . the tank is way to small . try using bettafix . and add a small amount of aquarium salt . and betta's prefer warmer water . you should have a heater . good luck .
