along with down loading AVG, also download ewido anti-spyware.
It's free too and run both. There are some viruses that also run like spyware and even download more bad things...
I had a virus Look2Me. It's found as both virus and spyware and it opened Morpheus and locked it open.. and automatically started downloading crap.
oh.. and don't listen to the dude that told you to shut off your computer for 4 months. He's a retard. Once you find you have a virus it's not good to shutdown your computer becuase alot of virus can reinfect and spread on boot ups. And alot of viruses can change directory files so even if your computer says all clean.. it will reinfect upon the restart. even doing a system restore doesn't help
but run AVG and Ewido and see that it pulls up, and i would look up what it finds to see how bad they are what it takes to remove them. Sometimes the programs can do it themselves. Sometimes they can't. I hope this helps.

First of all how did u come to know about the virus ....
If its through a Antivirus Programme , then u can usually cure it with the same programme. Else download some free antivirus /spyware (check for the rating) from good download sites like downloads.com and install them on your computer and then try scanning your PC.
Alternatively you can try windows system restore if it is enabled on your computer, you can find this in "Start-Programme-Accessaries-System Restore" and try setting your systerm to previous dates

If you don't have antivirus software, get it. Something like Norton/Symantec or McAfee. Get the latest virus definition files then start up your computer in Safe Mode (restart, press F8 until you get to a start up menu then choose Safe Mode). Run a full scan in Safe Mode then reboot. Or you can do an online free virus scan that's decent through Trend Micro.
If it doesn't find anything, you might have adware/spyware. Need something like Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search & Destroy, or Microsoft's defender software (it's free).

Turn off your computer and don't turn it back on for 4 months. Unplug it from the wall outlet.
When you turn it back, on the virus will be dead due to lack of electrical stimulation. And you will be free of your Internet addiction, thus killing two birds with one stone, and saving on your electric bill.

in all seriousness, if you're stressed and don't know anyone who can rectify your problem, go to www.bleepingcomputer.com --
set up an account (takes about 10 seconds)
tell 'em everything that's going wrong with your system
and someone will be able to fix it, no matter how complex.
if you're truly only interested in appeasing it, i hear they like the sound of carmina burana and the scent of lime jell-o. you know how viruses are.

download avg antivirus from grisoft. It is free and when you run the software it will catch the virus.
If that doesn't work, turn off system restore, turn off your computer for a couple of minutes, turn it back on and then turn system restore back on.
If that doesn't work, shoot it.

You can try downloading a free copy of AVG antivrus. It's free and it really works. Trust me. I had this problem a month ago, stupid spyware called Brontok. AVG will zap it and it's a free copy.. No trial period.
