False negatives are possible, especially if it is very early in pregnancy.
You may, though, have had an anovulatory cycle due to stress. One type of the condition is called PCOS. Cortisone, a stress hormone, prevents the egg from being released and the period doesn't happen. Some women lose a month here or there, other women don't get their periods for over a year. It is actually a major cause of infertility.
Surprisingly, both talk therapy and laughter seem to help women with this condition. Here's an article on the topic.

Probably nothing is wrong. Try another pregnancy test in 2 or 3 days. However, sometimes your schedule just readjusts. Women who work or live together can start getting their periods at the same time. My period used to re-adjust by a week or two several times a year when I was younger. Now I guess I'm the dominant one since it doesn't do that anymore! I am every 28 days like clockwork. If you start having periods that are 35 or more days apart, see the doctor because you could have a hormonal imbalance.

How old are you? I am 44 and two years ago my cycle STOPPED. One year before that I would spot or not at all. I too spent a fortune on 'Home Pregnancy Test.' This could be early stages of menopause

first, make sure you take three different tests.Second, make sure there is sufficient amount of urine on each test area. Third, go to the Doctor's office and have a blood test done, that will let you know for sure if your pregnant and how many weeks along you maybe. good luck!

You might be just stressing yourself out over it, causing the anxiety.
Of course, I've found that the OTC tests aren't so reliable anyway.
Only way to know for sure is to go to the doc.

Some times the tests are incorrect. Wait another week and try again.
