In the old, old days, (civil war) if you were half black you were mulatto, 1/4 you were quadroon, and 1/8 was octaroon.

The European American could be dark skinned too,or white,or what ever,as you didn't say if they were dark or white too, lol!.It shoudn't matter what color if you like that person and their child. As for the children,it shouldn't matter as well because what should matter is the parents will love their child and want to give it the best upbringing they can. That child could or may not marry someone of color or they will....it depends on who they fall inlove with. Its whats in the heart not the color of the skin that makes the person. But if the other person is white, the child could or may not be black or malotto.I saw a child of a mixed color and the child was fair and had some colored features.I also saw the same thing with two of the same dark color. The child was white and had no color at all.You never know. Some could pass for white. Its really a touchie subject.I myself could care less about color.I like people for the way they treat me.Be it an adult or a child. But then again, thats me!

Mulatto, but legally black, since 'European American' is still caucasian, and anyone of recent decent to any race other than caucasian has the right to refer to themselves as that other race when under the conditiotns of only being able to claim one race in particular. Shold they be able to claim multiple, then they would be considered black-caucasian.

African American is becoming outdated. Is Chiwetel Ejifor African American or Amfrican English? Is there any such thing as African English?

African American is NOT a race. American Blacks are of the ***** race.

American Whites are of the Caucasian race.

They would probably consider themselves African American, because the European American skin pigments would not show through. They would consider themselves whatever race they physically could identify with.

Americans first, and they can decide if they want to pay homage to their African and European heritage when they are older. America i.e. the USA is the great melting pot of the world, which makes it as wonderful as it is.

They are considered mixed race. Other than that there is no label for them. If they are light enough to, as they say pass for white, they are called Octomaroon.

mulatto is not a recognized race in america. They would be considered black like they always have been. You forget white slave masters fooled around with slaves and produced mixed off spring. They were always considered black.

This is the way society thinks, if a person has any black in them, they are considered black more than mixed, I have a mixed daughter B\W, ppl always call her black.

Dont know why it is that way. I want her to recognized as both races and love both sides of herself.

You mean mixed together? Why Americans of course! It doesn't matter what race they are. They can have different nationalities, and that's what makes them who they are.
