No.

I say we put Saddam back at the helm. He seems to be smarter than bush and co. and just slightly more evil.

Well, he had things under control before we found him in that thar rabbit er spider hole.

This time we put a chip in his head and when he acts out 'o line someone pushes a button and he is given a mild electric shock that's got to be better than whats going on now.

It won't. They'll still be in the civil/sectarian war that has been going on for years.

But s look at it from a cost-benefit perspective. How much money (tens of millions) and how many lives (dozens) did it cost for the US to invade Iraq and topple Saddam's government . How much money (tens of billions) and how many lives (thousands) has it cost for the US to remain in Iraq and try to force them to set up a new government. Which, by the way, is nowhere close to being ready to take over their country.

Let's say we withdraw and allow Iraq to set up whatever government it wanted. If we don't like the results, we go in, topple it, and tell them to try again. We could do that 10 times and still spent only 1% of the money and lost 1% of the lives that we have so far under the current plan.

For your information, the American army itself is causing chaos in the country. in case u havent heard, that all the criminals that have been supposedly been caught and are waiting trial get released the next day!! so theres neverending crimes happening all the time!! Last news i heard was that us soldiers barged into a mental hospital in Baghdad and let loose all the insane patients.. so theres mental pple walking on the streets!!. also American soldiers were seen fumbling with a car on a street in Baghdad and when they were done they put a bunch of goodies near the car and called on some kids.. then they dashed away in a hurry.. the poor kids that huddled around the goodies where blown off by the car bomb that exploded seconds later. thats what the "American patriotic soldiers" are doing to save Iraq!!!!

That is something we're trying to work on now over there. Trying to teach their army and police force to handle these things. Seems hard to do when many of their troops go AWOL or refuse orders from their superiors.

I guess until there is serious commitment on the part of Iraqis to take care of their new country, we'll be there holding their hands for months to come.

Its all a matter of perspective. Religious and ethnic fighting in Iraq is nothing new. Saddam killed at least as many as are dying in the violence today. I suspect it will continue no matter who is in charge.

well we won't have to worry about that for a long time, but if and when we leave that place, it won't BE controlled. there will be more violence than when we first invaded that country and no one will be able to do anything about it. It may become a socialist or fascist state. All the oil will be drained from the couuntry also, thanks to Bush and his entourage.
