we came home from a 14hr flight from Australia, (Australia was cold, and now here in USA is hot). I also shared a bed with him for a month while o/s. Now he is congested in the nose here in USA. (Is that the plane?) And when he wakes up. he doesn't go back to sleep till 4.30am. He is also very clingly to me too. I have tried the milk, I don't like to give in drugs all the time, but i have been giving him the decongestant.

it's probably jet lag as far as the waking up thing. for the congestion i don't like to use medicine with my 5 month old either. try using saline drops by little noses. it helps to loosen up the mucus so they can either sneeze or you can suck it out with that bulb. he's probably clingy because he doesn't feel good. he won't drink because he can't breath. also try taking him outside at night if it is cool out, the cool air helps them to breathe or if it is not cool out stand in front of the freezer and let him breathe that cool air in. hope this helps

Children do not like the unfamiliar. He was use to one thing and then you switched him to another place and area and people. Depending where you are in the US he is being exposed to many allergens that you did not have in Australia. I would imagine that once his congestion is gone he will sleep better. My children always woke up for a 2 am feeding up until they were weaned. If we moved to a different home they always started waking up at night for a while. Until they adjusted.

Sounds like his internal clock is off. Try not letting him sleep quite as long during the day. It might get him back on track.

try keeping him awake more in the daytime amd also try putting a stuffed animal close to him so that he thinks he is still close to you.
