Just a stupid made up name someone made for sex. I think it came from parents using code words for sex in front of their kids and over time the word sleepin with someone just kept evolving.
Kinda like touching naughty places or like playing under the covers, sleeping with someone, they all mean sex, but kids aren't going to pick up on them right away if you say this in front of them.

its called sleeping with, to make the ladies feel nice. Cause everyone knows after sex, the guys r tired and only thing on their mind is to get outta there, n go home or to another girl... but the next day the girl can tell her girlfriends that she slept with a guy, as in he spent the entire night, so she doesnt look like a hooker, whereas in reality she slept alone, n the guy took off...hope this answers ur question, sweetheart.....

It's a euphemism, it's the kid-friendly version. It's only later that they discover sleeping with someone can mean something else.

I guess it is more polite. I have always thought that it was dumb though because it has nothing to do with sleep and it is not always even in a bed.
