You may have acted too soon, but it shouldn't be too hard to find another job....maybe a new restaurant or bar will help get you out of the rut you are in. I know how you feel, waiting on people is one of the most exhausting and many times, most thankless job in the world (waiter for 7 yrs myself). My only hope is that graduate in a year, so I will be free! Just in time, b/c if I do this any longer, I will lose my mind!!!!! Enough about me, though.
You did the right thing putting in your 2 weeks, so you will have a good reccomendation from them. Perhaps spend the 2 wks. looking for a new job, and if nothing comes through, perhaps ask for an extension?! Say, "I was just kidding, I'm putting in my 4 weeks notice, hehe"
Good luck, and know there are jobs out there for you--you just have to luck.
On a sidenote--get to school, community college or whatever...it's the only thing that keeps me going sometimes knowing that it will all be over in May '07!!! Plus, the financial aid helps supplement my income, so that is nice.

Never is quitting a job a mistake if one "hates it." Life is too short to live in stress. I could be wrong but it seems that liquor brings out the worst in people. Does it?
Tending bar involves people and sales. My bet is that you also like the computer and the Internet. Putting them all together, you might like and do well at Internet Marketing.
I sure do.
I like it because of: the $$$, the freedom, the challenge, the quality (family) time, the security, and the opportunity to work with many positive people.
If you would like to take a quick look I can get you the details. Just email, IM me or take a peek at this site:
http://TopFreedoms.com
If you go to this site be sure you fill in the 5 brief items in the form. That's what I did. It was the best move I have made in years.

If I were you, as long as I have some savings to spare for a while, I think I'd be fine. And I'd make a plan for the future at the same time so I know where I would go later. I don't see any point staying in a job that I hate so much. I'd probably switch to another job sector if I can find some options.
Hope my answer helps.

You may have wanted to wait and got something else lined up first, but I know EXACTLY how you feel. I used to hate the job I was previously at... but I had to tolerate it until I could find a different job... I didn't have any money saved up... so quiting without another job was out of the question.

No, this is America. If you hate your job, go do something else for a while. The fact that you have money put aside makes you smarter that the average bear. You have two + years experience and that puts you above some teenager looking for a part time job so they will have money to party on the weekend . "Brave heart Teagan !"
