Hollywood hasn't had an original idea in years. They remake this show and they remake that show. They take old t.v. shows and turn them into movies.
My belief is you don't mess with the classics. You never, and I mean never get a better movie and you lose money.
So my vote goes to Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke and of course Margaret Hamilton. Who else could play the witch? Roseann Barr?
P.S. Dont forget Toto

I don't know about directors and cast (although I do agree that the little girl who played Lucy in the chronicles of Narnia would be good based on the fact in the books Dorothy was younger) BUT what I would like to see is a movie that followed the book a little closer... the books are so much better

Quentin Tarantino should direct.
Dorothy would be played by Uma Thurman, in form-fitting spandex and wielding nunchuku.
The Scarecrow would be played by James Woods or Christopher Walken.
The Tinman would be played by a very angry and foul-mouthed Samuel Jackson.
The Cowardly Lion would be considered Dennis Hopper's most ground-breaking role since "Blue Velvet".
Toto would be played by a hyena.
And the Wicked Witch of the West would be played by Bridget Fonda, whose flying monkeys would hurl both razor-edged stars and crap.

I have loved this movie since I was a little girl. I would probably be really mad if it was remade because noone can do it the way they did. Just like charlie and the chocolate factory. They took a good movie and ruined it. Granted it was funnier because johnny depp acted like an idiot but they took out the singing and butchered it. If they remade it I would boycott!!!!!!

I don't know, but there are a lot more Oz books than that one. It would be cool to see a movie about one of them. I'm a grandmother and still love to read those stories.
