What action should I take when an instance like this occurs again?

I went to a dance hosted by my college. I'm a freshman, and I don't know most of the ppl here. A racist kid (by the way, i'm asian) poured water over my neck, and he acted like he did nothing when i went up to him. Judging from his size, I know I could have beaten him up so easily, but I didn't really take any action because there was a police officer. I didn't want to risk my future. I am pretty much shocked because I've always been told that this school is a very accepting environment. If you feel me, please give me a sincere response. Ghandi and MLK advocated non-violence, but I am not like that. I am kinda impatient, and I certainly want to give hell and high water to those who attacks me. I am looking for the smartest way to deal with an instance this. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear that you had to deal with someone being a jerk to you. You were correct to hold your temper in check, in the moment; as it could have ended up getting you in trouble for fighting back. No matter how much we all wish that things have gotten better, and less racist over the many decades behind us; there are always going to be jerks to deal with that are only lashing out at what they don't understand, and they are basically too stupid to know any better. I think you should talk to a Student Advisor about what happened, and see what their opinion is about the whole incident. I don't go around advocating violence, by any means; but you would have the right to get in one well placed punch into the jerks face; when no body else was looking that is.....My son was around eight or nine years ago and some kids were picking on him at school, I don't even remember the exact reason now, some ridiculousness, and these kids would not stop and my husband finally told my son to stick up for himself and he was studying martial arts at the time, and they picked on him again, while they were walking home from school one day, and my son executed a few moves and a couple of roundhouses, and those kids never bothered him again! One of them went home to their dad and complained and the dad showed up at our house with the kid, and my son said I kicked him because he has been picking on me and shoving me around for weeks and I was sick of it, and the kids dad hauled the kid down the front steps and into their car by the earlobe, yelling at him all the way. You sound like a very sensible young man with your whole life ahead of you, please remain strong and ignore the idiots as much as possible. They are everywhere. I was brought up to learn to love and appreciate people of all races and religions, and have led a very interesting life because of it, I am proud that my parents brought me up this way. How do you know this kid is racist? Sometimes ppl pour water on other ppl's necks to cool them off at dances, well at clubs mostly but there is dancing at a dance also. You don't know why as you just say he acted like he didn't do anything wrong. It doesn't sound like you got any information from him and you're just assuming you're correct about what you've decided is true.

You should not assume that everyone is a racist just because you're asian, that's you stereotyping and being racist against others simply because you're asian, and is just as narrow minded and racist if not more so (racists tend to believe their bs about one group usually).

Be more open minded, learn patience, if you are unsure of how to deal with a situation talk to a counselor and advisor at your school about it. Perhaps you should talk to someone about this. There are always ways and systems in place for dealing with things like this without you resorting to your old standard of assumptions and violence.

You may need to see a counselor so that you don't see things like this as an attack, because it may not have been you don't know. Remember there are many different races and many different cultures out there, the only way that things go well is if ppl don't assume they know for sure without learning about other cultures and races.

Nonviolent: You could simply walk away in one way be a bigger man by avoiding problems, but in another avioding confrontation to stand up for yourself and possibly being considered a coward. If you are too violently impatient to confront him without the intentions of conflict, then you umst either walk away or face your fears of losing self control. If not, then tell him straight out and full hartedly "hey buddy, you must be a really incompetent bigot to only be able to insult me by means of physical harrasment and only being able to insult my race, an unchangealble and unchoosable characteristic of me that in no way makes me and other asians any better or worse than you and your fellow caucasians. Make yourself sound very righteous and embarass his thuggish stupidity in front of everyone else.

Violent: Several things... you could pour extremely cold water on his neck and then boiling hot right after. Or better yet you could get someone to kidnap him, find a group of asians, tie him up to a chair, beat the **** out of him if you'd like but what would be even better is if you were to make him scared shitless of asians.

While he's tied up, run around the room with weapons, trying to make him think you're going to do something like those doctors would in Hostel. Grab a chain saw and flash it inches away from his face. Show him pictures of dead caucasians and violent asians. When he becomes so scared of asians, surround him with plenty of them.

I do not reccomend doing this or any other acts of violence, nor do I condone any of it.

I firmly believe that the best solution would be to stand up to him and verablly politically whoup his racist ***!

You are a thinking boy and very patient too as I can see from the first incident.
If such thing happen again, maybe you should turn around and say to that person who bully you: "Hey man! this is what you have just done to me, is ok, but don't you have some courtesy to say sorry." This will make that man looks bad and you have character.

U sound like a very smart guy. Don't look for a straight forward comeback from any of these answers, know one knows your situation, surroundings, assets or liabilities in this matter like U do so my advice is to be smart and find a way to use whatever U have in your arsenal to get even. Don't fight his fight, on his ground with his weapons- no- instead, fight your own fight, on your time, on neutral ground and kick his butt. (your way)

You should be sure he is racist first of all. Walking away is always the best choice but the hardest.

Ignore it. Boobs are everywhere, even at college, don't let it effect who you are and what you are doing.

However, if he ever comes near you again, start screaming bloody murder, draw everyone's attention and then say "what the hell are you doing you boob?".
