I usually play about thirty minutes every time I play, but I start getting pain after about 15. Is this normal? Is my back just weak? Any tips?

If you have the throne that came with the set I recomend getting a better one. Pork Pie has some more comfy ones, see if you can find one on sale they are pricey.
MAke sure you have your set at a comfortable height for you.
Arm strength and leg strength being in good shape helps.
And finally get up every few minutes if you need to and stretch.
It will go away the better you get.

I play drums but its usually my arm that gets tired (by incorrect playing) and not my back. Thats kind of unusual, I would get that checked out by a physician. But if it only happens when your on the drum set, then it has to be how your griping/playing the sticks and of course how your sitting posture is too. Best thing to do is seek advice from a professional, a drum teacher or chiropractic.

I don't know anything about playing the drums, but you don't really have back support. I think you should do some yoga or back streches to help with the pain.

I can only imagine that you 'slouch' when you play the drums, if you sit up straight you might look sorta of weird.

So do yourself and your health a favor and stretch. No one needs to know!

Pain is body's signal telling you soemthing is wrong. Maybe you are not sitting correctly? Playng drums does put a lot of pressure on your spine. Unless you sit properly you might get yourself in back trouble. Talk to your physician about it. He/she will eplain what it means to be sitting correctly perhaps will examine the way you sit and give some gussestons.

Teachers are also a good resource. Ask your teacher.

believe it or not, when your back is weak and you have trouble sitting up like that it means you need to strengthen your abdominal (stomach) muscles. Sit-ups, crunches, etc. will help that a bunch. I had the same problem until I did that.
