Most of us would like to see our troops be able to come home from the Middle East. If you could be the American President's advisor on this war, what exit strategy would you suggest to get us out of Iraq?

Short of nuking the entire country and killing some innocent people in the process, how would you get us out of there and remove the threat of retaliation on the U.S.?

Rotate out the existing deployments on schedule as their tours end.

Let's look at it from a cost-benefit perspective. How much money (tens of millions) and how many lives (dozens) did it cost for the US to invade Iraq and topple Saddam's government . How much money (tens of billions) and how many lives (thousands) has it cost for the US to remain in Iraq and try to force them to set up a new government. Which, by the way, is nowhere close to being ready to take over their country.

What we should have done is pull out after "Mission Accomplished" and allow Iraq to set up whatever government it wanted. If we didn't like the results, we go in, topple it, and tell them to try again. We could have done that 10 times and still spent only 1% of the money and lost 1% of the lives that we have so far under the current plan.

North/South Korea...sound familiar? 50+ years later and they still can't play nice. It's an ideological divide that still needs soliders on the ground to preserve. Always said Iraq was secular conflict. Saddam was the dictator and suppressor and when those that have been suppressed feel freedom, chaos often ensues. Solution: divide up the country north/south, east/west, whatever works. Can't go back now and it's the ONLY way forward. Anything short of this is incredibly naive and will NEVER work. The harmony thing is a nice ideal - a 'nice to have' but will not manifest itself. Or..they just create two countries with sovreignty for each. We've spent 300$BN in Iraq to-date but what's the price of democracy. Look how long we were in the Cold War before 'communism' failed in our lifetime!!! Patience people, patience....don't run and leave others behind cuz it makes u feel better. Doing the right thing is not easy but that's why it's the 'right thing'...Courage!!!!!

That's something that is hard to answer. But one thing that i do know is that we just can't up and leave like some people want. our exit has to be coordinated. I really don't see us leaving the country for a couple of years.

Patience.
Now it's time for our liberal leaders to step up and exercise patience for the long haul.

This is a mess and we as Americans have to shoulder the burden of a commitment made.

THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO STAY IN IRAQ AND KEEP FIGHTING.....TILL THE TERRORIST GIVE UP. IF US LEAVES IRAQ AND LEAVES IT IN THE HANDS OF THESE TERRORIST.....THEN US's MILITARY CREDIBILITY IN THE WORLD IS GOING TO DROP DRASTICALLY....THEY GOT THEMSELVES A WAR....AND NOW THEY BETTER FIGHT TILL THEY WIN........AND ITS GONNA BE A LOOOOOOONG WAR.!

Just leave.

There is no course to stay!

Any more threat can only become worse by staying!
