Personally, I think it's a little odd. I think that when someone answers the door, it's best that they be the center of attention, and having pictures "looking over their shoulder" would be a distraction. Also, there might be times when you don't want someone coming up to your door to know more about your family than they need to know.

According to Fung Shui, if it is a mirror facing the door, the mirror is considered a death door. Somebody in the house will die. It's also a door where spirits coming in and out. The house will be haunted.
If it's a picture, better not having a glass framed on it.

Not much of a problem . depending on which way the front door faces. If the east or south then the pictures may be prone to fade faster because of the sunlight shining on them. the west is the direction some religions blieve the dead go.

That's a really bad idea, why would you want random people looking at your family, knowing exactly who lives there & what their ages are, in todays world you can never be to careful.
