My understanding is that the expanding earth theory proposes that the 'fit' of the continents is due to the fact that the earth has been slowly expanding. New crust is created at mid-ocean ridges, similarly to in the plate tectonics model. However 'expanding earth' differs in that it says there is no subduction, or subduction is slower than new crust creation.

Subduction = subtraction so that means that the Earths radius is being reduced. The expanding Earth theory says that accrection (the radius of the earth is increasing) is caused by extra-terrestrial bodies impacting with the Earth. Data indicates that over time, extra-terrestrial impacts and growth by photsynthesis has caused increased radius of the Earth. Interesting note on this: the more accection, the higher the gravitational pull of the Earth.

Hi. The expanding Earth theory ignores plate tectonics and is not compatible with current knowledge.
