What industry? Industry in general? Radiation is a product of radioactive elements, and for the most part, there is nothing good about it. It is an environmental disaster, it is lethal to all living things, and it takes lifetimes for it to stop being a poison (long half life). Having said that, some types of radiation, while still being dangerous, are used to help mankind. Radiation therapy is used to kill cancer cells and reduce or eliminate cancerous tumors, radioactive dyes are used to detect blood vessel anomalies, some types of problems with the internal organs, and for other tests. Radioactive materials are used in cells in laboratory instruments, although they are shielded so the user does not get poisoned. Miniature fission chambers are plated with Uranium and used as a type of sensor in boiling water reactors, deep sea drilling apparatuses, and other types of drilling equipment. Of course, the encyclopedia has all this information.
