I heard that the new Brad Pitt movie is a big oscar contender. It's called "Babel".
I've seen some of the previews it looks like a middle-eastern "Crash".
I think that it will win the Best Picture oscar next year. But who knows, maybe there will be another movie like "Lord of Rings" that will sweep the oscars.
:-p

That is a great question. It is still early in the season, usually studios don't release their "slam dunks" until the end of the season (December). There have been one or two that may be contenders - one is The Lost City with Andy Garcia. Cuba is very topical now that Fidel's health is on the fritz, and he has turned over power for the first time since he assumed the "throne".
Also, I really dig Micheal Mann's style - so I really liked the Miami Vice remake. It had a lot of realism. I am in the Navy's Bomb Squad, and I liked the fact that he tried to keep it real as possible.I know that movie will never make it to the final round, but it would be cool to see him finally get some best picture recognition.
Not many blockbusters coming this fall - but one movie I am looking forward to is Daniel Craig's take on James Bond with Casino Royale. I was really taken with the movie "Layer Cake", and he had a decent role in Munich, so I am looking forward to seeing a more grounded and realistic Bond.

NO, first of all there are such numerous flicks like Tingya & all that deserve a raffle, TZP's repute to the oscars isn't something lots. Indian video clips are into Oscars everytime, the element is that TZP has been chosen to make in Europe,u . s . a . & Australia, Thats the perfect 2nd for Indian cinema reason it fairly is the 1st indian action picture to make it a remake, i'm specific indian cinema has have been given couple extra ideas to decide for different than TZP.

I haven't seen any so far that even come close. And I'm not holding out much hope for the rest of the year. Not that there's no movies I want to see, but I don't see any movies that deserve the big honor. The year in movies so far has been awful.

It is not out yet but, I think that "All the King's Men" starring Sean Penn, Jude Law and Kate Winslet is an Oscar contender

I just saw World Trade Center and I think it has a chance to be the one this year. It really handled a sensitive subject well and all the actors were excellent.
