it tells the world i am willing to answer silly questions if it might just possibly help someone.

To the world, it tells people that I am educated and I am a good person. (Ego)
To myself personally, it makes me feel as though I am doing something to help people and that I am wiling to stop and help the total stranger walking "down the street" (in this case, the internet).

I do it because I like to feel as though I am helping people.
