You may have been told that we study history so that we won't repeat the mistakes of the past. This is the wishful thinking school of historical interpretation. It's too clean. If we have learned from the past then over the centuries we ought to have accumulated so much knowledge that things like war, poverty, injustice and immorality ought not to exist. Of course, we've still got a long way to go in this respect.

I hate history. So many lies written by the winners of wars and those who control the educational institutions. But whatcha gonna do? Somewhere in there are some very important knowledge-type things.
For example...
*Soviet Union established gun control in 1929. In about 15 years, 20 million people, now defenceless, were exterminated.
*Turkey established gun control in 1911. In TWO years 1.5 million Armenians, defenceless, were exterminated.
*China ...gun control in 1935. In about 25 years 20 million
defenceless people, were exterminated.
*Germany in only 6 years killed 13 million people; (the people had no guns.)
*100,000 Mayan Indians
*300,000 Christians
*Cambodia ...1 million "educated people," executed.
*United States IS establishing gun control.

Learn from history or not.

You need it for the context of what's going on today. For instance, it's important for you to understand why some fanatics are flying commercial airplanes into skyscrapers or why it's not a very smart move to be associated with Ku Klux Klan.

And it's actually interesting. Part of being a well educated person.

because in history, obviously, you will know the history of your country or place. you will know when did it start and when did it stop. you can get many informations about something that is related to your country or birth place like for example in my country, this was being tortured when the Spaniards came then followed by the Americans. if you will learn about the history of something, you will know all the things that you want to know until the informations are there in the written history of something.

Studying history is like studying the roots of where our family came from. Who you are now, the society you live in, the entire world you know all came from what has gone on before us. Unless you know where we came from, you will not have a clear picture of where we are going.
