Well, there have been peer-reviewed studies in Nature, Scientific American, and the British Royal Journal of Sciences. As well as dozens of university studies over the decades.

The reason that people don't want to spend hours doing your homework is because every time this question has been asked, the effort has been wasted because the person simply rejected the studies out of hand because they disagreed with pre-existing conclusions.

So, tell us, why should we waste time trying to convince you of something that you don't want to believe.

{EDIT to MartyK} Thank you for proving my point.

It's one more step but lets keep in mind a few things. First, this information is not new. It has been establish that homosexuality is a trait not a learned behavior. The religious bigots and politicians have denied this information for about 15 years now. Second, no matter how many studies are done to prove (or re-prove) this fact there are those that are so dogmatic that they will never except the information.

actually, gay people do reproduce. lesbians especially. we'll see the real evidence in about 50 years. as less and less gay people are forced into the closet and into heterosexual lives, less will force themselves to take a spouse of the opposite sex and have children. soon there won't be any gay people left. the only thing that has perpetuated homosexuality for so long is the hatred of it. ironic- is it not?

just to hit a few responses as well as your question...
to the person who said, "Its not, so no." they need to shut up and stop pretending that for some reason they know more than scientists, or in this case socialogists.
to the person who said homosexuality will always be hated, look at Rome smart one.
and to you.... there are studies that are showing slight evidence of genetic predispositions to being homosexual. These studies as yet are inconclusive, and for the most part it doesn't matter, why is it such a big deal what people are doing in thier bed rooms? and why is it any of my business?!

I think people will always be against homosexuality and so a creditable study would be impossible. Too many people would be looking for ways to make it seem false.

This is a grandiose myth, the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of and the only "study" they might come up with is one fabricated by liberal psychologists, or by some psychologists they might coerce and intimidate into making one by storming their convention and causing trouble.

The main thing is that each person accepts who they are and if you're gay hopefully you don't feel a big need to justify that to other people and for most people it's just a personal private matter.

Why are we in the U.S. the only western country so hung up on this question. In other western civilized nations gays suffer no persecution because of their sexual orientation.
Secondly, how could you possibly explain it otherwise. According to 'normal' America we are all heterosexual. Well how do you explain that a perfectly normal young man from this perfectly normal American family would grow up wanting to suck cocks.

They have, but some conservatives are so steadfast and stubborn in their Christian hatred, that they'll find any minor fault in these studies (whether they exist or not), and use it to falsely discredit the entire study.
