My friend and I were having a converstation, and we were just talking about how often people switch their towls (bath towls, hand towls, kitchen towls, etc). So, how often do you switch those out?

In the summer time I use light weight towels,...................I change the bath towels one to three times per week depending on humidity. I have a garden, so I use dark colored hand towels which I change everyday until planting season is over. We have only two in our family, so kitchen towels I change every three days, or when they don't dry anymore, depending on humidity.
During Harvest I use all kinds of towels which are usually washed in bleach once a week.
In the winter I use heavy weight towels, and change them once a week. Kitchen towels get changed every four-to- five days, depending on the lack of humidity.
We also have a pile of 'garage' towels which get bleached once every four to six weeks.
Of course, the pet towels get bleached immediantly!

I always change my bath towel after every shower because I just do not like the idea of bringing back any left over smells from that last shower back onto me. But the hand towels get changed once a week because I mostly use them to wash my hands before I take out or put back in my contacts.

Every two or at the most, three days. But that's because there are a lot of people in my household, and I'm a laundry fanatic. Around here, the towels don't smell fresh and start to look kind of yucky after a couple of days. If I'm doing a big kitchen-cleaning job (counters, microwave, stove and refrigerator), I wash the kitchen towels right after I use them.

Bath towels are good for 2 showers, then I change them. Hand towels daily, kitchen towels daily or they start to smell bad.

Once they look dirty or smell bad. I have incredubly sensitive nose. That's like 2 weeks for bath towels and 2-3 days for hand towes. I don't use kitchen towels because I don't cook.

Really I used to use a towel for as long as it looked fresh and clean which could be as long as a week but my bf only uses them once. I think thats wasteful but he does the laundry so oh well.
And he is putting them away right now!

I apply the same rule to towels as I do to my underwear. I refer to this as the "three fly rule". If more than three houseflies are hanging around the article in question, it is time for a change.
