Is our universe infinite? Is there an end?

If the universe does end, what is after it? Nothing? A vacuum? Does space travel out from us in equal directions from every direction?

In a circle their are no ends. So infinite has no end like a circle. I would normally go into deep detail, but what more can I say. It makes perfect sense!

The universe is finite, and it has no end.

One way to visualize it is the surface of the earth. That has a finite area, but you can walk any direction forever. You'll loop back sometimes, of course.

The universe is harder to visualize becaues it has more dimensions than the surface of the Earth. But the idea is the same. One difference is that you can leave the surface of the Earth with an airplane or a rocket ship or even by jumping. But you cannot leave the universe. So whether there is something outside the universe or not, we'll never know.

It is not infinite, but it does not have an end. Which sounds weird (and is), but that's the way it is. The known universe fits in a sphere 13.6 billion light years in diameter. Which does not mean that if you go 13.6 billion light years in any particular direction that you will encounter an edge -- because the limit of visibility is traveling away from you faster than you are traveling toward it.

Consider for a moment that space is literally nothing without the presence of stars and planets. It is no more than the distance between the objects.

With this in mind, the universe is expanding into "nothingness" and is literally creating space as it expands.

What's on the other side of "nothing"? Nothing.

And "nothing" is infinite - infinite "nothing" is still "nothing."

You're only thinking of 'infinite' in one direction, to the edges of the observable universe. But what about the other direction, we're looking and theorizing about smaller and smaller particles (sub-atomically speaking).

What if our Universe was but a molecule on the ring finger of a giant being?

i imagine the note "countless" skill more effective than basically without an end. A rubber band wouldn't have an end (except you shrink it), yet its no longer countless. type of interior an same way, our universe wouldn't have an end. no count number the position you're in the universe, you're not any more on the "end" or "aspect" of the universe. there is continuously the entire universe round you. yet, on the different hand, the universe has a finite length; there are literally one of those great number of places in it. it should be measured, so that is not any longer countless.

Nothing can be (really) infinite. Every thing has to be finite.

sometimes we get confused about the meaning of "infinity"......

There is only one "infinity" that is when you divide any number by zero.

But in reality the "age of the universe", "size of the universe", "number of stars" every thing is finite. Just that they may be too big a number for us to write it on paper using the current notations.

From today if any one says something is infinite.....its just that the number is probably too huge.....thats it.

Exception of course is in mathematics 1/0 is really infinity.

Ages ago people asked if the earth has ends. It turns out it round. Now we ask if the universe has ends, I guess we never know. It takes million of light years to reach closest stars. We'll all be dead when we know it, if it has ends.

One thing we know is that the universe is expanding.

Wasn't there a theory where it stated something to this affect?:
The Universe has an end.
The end of the universe as we know it is expanding at the speed of light.
What's past the end? We don't know.
