For luxury- Wynn
If you like to be away from the crazyness- The Palms (my fave)
Mandalay Bay is super nice, but a bit pricey. The Venetian is right in the middle of the strip, as is the Bellagio and Ceasars. Unfortunately, it is all about personal preferance. You will just have to try them all. oh yeah- Treasure Island is nice too. I probably just made your decision harder. Have fun- I am jealous. I just got back from Vegas

Our whole family enjoys the Venetian. We were on the concierge level of the Venezia Tower which made things sooooo pleasant checking in and getting reservations for shows. The 2 shows we most wanted to see are at the hotel--Blue Man Group and Phantom of the Opera. It's very classy without being snobby. (We've experienced bad attitudes at both Paris and Bellagio) The MGM was just TOOOO DARNED BIG!!!! It's a looooooong walk to the elevator once you've hit the lobby, and in all probability you'll have a loooooooooong walk to your room once you get to your floor. We have had good luck at the Luxor, though we always have a hassle at check-in because what we reserved over the phone is often magically not available when we get there. Despite that, however, the Luxor would be my second choice if the Venetian were unavailable

Well I just got back from Vegas Thursday... Part of my trip included checking out all the other hotels... My preferences are: New York New York, venetian and luxor. If you don't have kids, avoid circus circus. You can't go wrong at just about every place there... It does become a matter of Dollars though. Every hotel offers great services... but one thing to avoid is a hotel under renovation. I found some places were getting a face lift and some of the services were affected... IE pools closed, bars and restaurants closed. Before making a reservation...call them and ask.

Also very nice: Venetian, Bellaggio, Caesar's Palace, The Mirage, Paris

They have ALL been designed with one component in mind, to keep you on their property so that you won't have any reason to go anywhere else. With that in mind, some places that try harder than others to keep you there are off the strip:
Rio
Hard Rock
Palms

If you MUST see the strip, it's Caesar's Palace. They invented it.
