Patent lawyers and Engineers do all the work – so your second job is not a legal paper pusher. DO NOT EVER FILE IT YOURSELF – it’s a waste of time and money.
Get a good patent lawyer group – and do your research on what they have done in the past (after all its your money you are paying and many scams are out there.)

Get the book "Patent It Yourself" published by Nolo Press.
It's a really good primer on how to patent something.
