Why do the British call all Americans Yankees?
I find it kind of offensive since I am American but in the South. Why don't they call us "Yankees and Dixies"? Why are we all Yankees to them?
And I got this answer:

you made a generalization. you suggested that all british people call all americans yankees. this person was obviously overly ticked for some reason.
but my thing is, among americans there are yankees and dixies, but this difference was not notable until the civil war. in the beginning the english settlers wanted freedom from great britain, so the majority were in deed yankees. but as more people settled from other countries, we became known as a melting pot. americans come in every color, race, and creed.
and for the record... i live in the south but i am by no means a dixie... i'm a black american and do not knowingly support anyone who feels that slavery in the united states should have continued.

First questions : all americans are yankee doodles the south became dixies or rebs when they tried to cecede. Second question : the people who answered your first question were ignorant jerks who saw big and rich with a blonde avatar and didn't have the attention span to read past that.

Wow, I don't think it's your issue at all - it is THEIR issue, and I think they would use any excuse to tear into Americans. Don't take it personally - I'm pretty sure that all blondes aren't 'Paris Hilton' wannabees :). The answer isn't even coherent - obviously a crazy woman.
LOL - she's got little hearts all over her profile. She doesn't strike me as that kind of gal. I wonder what set her off?

They're the ones with some serious issues.... They obviously have some pent up anger!
Dont let them bother you.. The majority of them spread so much negativity about our Govt, etc... And it doesnt even concern them, go figure!
