yeah pay as you go isn't really worth it...ok so this is how it works...

you buy a card for say $20 and you also have to buy a pay as you go phone and you load your number into it by calling the back of the card and link your phone and you card up with serial numbers yada yada yada...you have to make sure you keep loading your phone with new cards cuz once your balance is 0...you loose your number too! so yeah everyday it's $1 to use it...so it takes $1 out of your balance from your cards...and its usually 10cents a minute so yeah...in the end you just pay more...just no hassle of a contract but if you don't use your phone a lot i guess its ok...but some companies have roll over

The THe Prepaid program for Cingular is Both. Maybe that's why its confusing. Both prepaid programs are done without a contract and you can start off with a phone as low as 30 a month.

The one labled "Pay as you go" uses the card system. Buy x amount of dollars, and every phone call you make will take x amount out of the original amount of money you purchased. When it is empty you can't make any more phone calls until you go and some more money on the account. There is no unlimited nights and weekends.

The other prepaid service from Cingular is labeld as "Pick your Plan" Here you conncect a credit card or checking account where they will deduct from your account once a month for a certain amount for a certain plan for instance the50 dollar plan with 400 anytime minutes. You pay if you use if or don't. If you sign up for the 50 dollar plan, you will get unlimited night and weekends as well on this plan.

You prepay for the minutes via credit card. When you have used them all up, you have to "recharge" the phone with minutes to use it again. It's not as convenient as a montly service, but it saves you from getting a large bill that you may not be able to pay for.

Different carriers have different plans. Pay as you go is great for people who don't need a cell phone surgically welded onto their heads. (IE, good for people who don't usually need a cell phone much.)
