I am not particularly fond of roller coaster rides, I do not like the feeling of falling down at full speed and getting vertigo feelings, to make it short I am a wimp when talking about rides, I mostly go on bumber cars, ferris wheel, carousel, so is this ride too wild for me or is it pretty much ok?

I worked at Hersheypark for 5 years.

The river ride there, called 'Canyon River Rapids' is very mild indeed... there are no dropoffs or stomach churning effects, however you will get soaked. The ride is relatively boring in my opinion, but if coasters aren't your thing, the rapids will be just fine.

Try their flume ride, the 'Coal Cracker' if you want to get adjusted to rides that are a little more intense. It's very mild, but there is a short drop off. Believe me, once you try it, you'll want to ride the coasters. Generally people who do not like intense rides simply had a bad childhood experience and don't know what they're missing.

My mother is scared to death of roller coasters (she actually has heart palpitations over it) and does just fine on the river rapid ride.

They do go relatively fast (maybe 30mph?) and you're sitting in a circular boat that will bounce and spin a bit. There are some minor drops (less than 5 feet), during which you'll gain speed with a big splash at the end.

I think you''ll be fine as long as bouncing and spinning isn't the problem. At most parks, you can watch the river rapids ride from a variety of locations -- try that before riding. Have fun!

I feel the same way about roller-coasters as you do! Sometimes I don't understand how the sick feeling you get between your heart and intestines can feel good to some people. I have been to Hershey Park and river rapid rides, and it is okay. It's not scary as in the drop in elevation feeling, but it's uncomfortable due to the turns. Have fun at Hershey Park if you're going!

I love all the roller coaster, ferris wheel, and drop rides but I hate those water rides. Wet shoes and undies for the rest of the day! yuck.

It's awesome. There are a few times when you spin around but not too fast or anything. You will definitely get splashed. Try to get in line with people who understand how you feel, because people can kind of make them rock more if they want to. Have fun!
