The nights would not be so beautiful.
If there were no moon, we would have no tides. The tides arise due to the pull of the moon's gravity. On the side of Earth nearest the moon, the moon's gravity is the strongest and it pulls up the water slightly (high tide). On the side of Earth furthest from the moon, the moon's gravity is the weakest and the water can move a little away from the moon (which is also high tide). This also affects Earth itself. During high tide Earth rises by an inch or two, not enough for us to notice.

Great question!
I saw a program on the discovery channel about this subject
about 2 years ago. "If there were no moon" or something like that.
Man, the Earth as we know It, would be extremely different. Life here would nothing as we now of It today.
The effects of the moon cannot be underestimated.

One major effect is that without the effect of lunar tides, the Earth's rotation would be estimated to be approximately 10 hours
vs the current 24.

Just imagine the difference. The weather patterns would be virtually unrecognizable to us as a consequence.

The effects are to many to answer here..
but start with the link below.

Great question!!!

I have heard that one scientist said the Earth would be better off with no moon. Their wouldn't be the tides in the Oceans and something about the weather.
I am very glad there is a moon and actually wish we had a couple more.

No ocean waves.
No moon light walks with your best friend at your side.
No poetry from hopeless romantics.
More children are created during black outs so there would be a huge population explosion.
More stars to be seen in the night sky.
Some benefits, some draw backs, and as one of those hopeless romantics, I vote to keep the moon!

it would drastically change the earths weather patterns. the moon has a huge influence on tides and the ocean, which in turn can have major effects on the weather.
