The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was a quote from my 10 year old nephew not so long ago.
He said (about smokers), "Inhaling is suicide, exhaling is homocide." Makes sense, huh?
Smoking is bad all around - to our health AND to others, however, it is extremely hard to overcome the addiction to Nicotine. Thank goodness there is so much support out there for those who want to quit.

I have been a health professional for some years.
I smoked for quite a few years, but I quit eighteen years ago.
I saw pictures of lungs damaged by cigarette smoking. Seeing those pictures is not enough to stop a person addicted to nicotine, Though it should be
Many smokers don't believe this but usually the bottom third of their lungs are hardened. The lungs are usually made up of soft tissue.
The effects of smoking are definitely harmful.
If someone had said this to me when I was smoking, I would have told them to blow smoke in somebody Else's ears.
But it is a good question that you asked.
I smoked for a lot of years, and I will not honestly say anything good about it. Forgive me if I don't have my facts exactly straight, but I am close to right on, I have done the research.

Sure is, but people keep doing it, just like driving drunk, drinking in general, and a million and one other things that are injurious to our health and others.

I honestly think 2nd hand smoke is worse for you. I recently knew two older women who were widowed young and hung out together for years. They both died within months of each other of lung cancer and I think they got it from each other.
